The State Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate the cause of a Creek County fire. The fire destroyed a detached garage and part of a home north of Sapulpa early Wednesday.

Sapulpa firefighters were called to the house on West 86th Street South just west of Highway 97 at about 2:30 a.m. They arrived to find the home and garage on fire. Firefighters said the detached garage was destroyed and about 25 percent of the home sustained significant damage.

Firefighters said someone lives in the home, but nobody was inside when they arrived. The door was standing open when firefighters got on scene, they said.

The fire department called the Creek County Sheriff's Office which then turned the investigation over to the state.
