Sources confirmed to News On 6 that Oklahoma State is parting ways with Travis Ford. This decision comes after several meeting this week with Athletic Director Mike Holder.

All that is left is for Ford to talk to the players to inform them of the decision.

In a statement, the university said:

Oklahoma State Director of Athletics Mike Holder and basketball coach Travis Ford have mutually agreed that the school and Ford will part ways.

Ford concludes his eight seasons at Oklahoma State with an overall record of 155-111, including a conference record of 63-75. The Cowboys ended the 2015-2016 season at 12-20 and 3-15 in Big 12 play, ending a string of three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

Under Ford, OSU appeared in the NCAA Tournament five times.

“I like Travis Ford and his family,” Holder said. “He worked very hard at his job. Unfortunately, we have to move on.”

Ford was the Head Coach at Oklahoma State for the last eight years, compiling a record of 155-111 and five NCAA Tournament appearances.

This season, OSU ended with a 12-20 record.

There has been speculation throughout the week that Ford is in line to take the Head Coaching Position at Western Kentucky, but there is has been nothing more to report on that situation as this point.

OSU's coaching search will now begin to immediately look for a head coach.

Arkansas-Little Rock Coach Chris Beard and Stephen F. Austin Head Coach Brad Underwood are among the names that have been mentioned during the coaching search.
