One Killed After Semi, Car Collide On EB Turner Turnpike Near Luther

One person is confirmed dead after a semi and a car collided on the Turner Turnpike east of the metro, Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called out to the area on the eastbound side of the turnpike (I-44) near Hogback Rd. and Mile Marker 146 in the Luther area.

The car appears to have ran into the back of the semi and got lodged under the trailer. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Traffic is backed for miles due to the crash and authorities have shut down the eastbound lanes of I-44 at Sooner Rd. while they investigate.
