New Shepard Rocket Makes Third Successful Launch, Landing

The future of space tourism took a big leap forward over the weekend. The New Shepard Rocket underwent its third successful launch and landing.

Blue Origin's New Shepard Rocket launched from west Texas, and then returned to Earth unmanned and upright. It's the latest in the new race for space among private companies hoping to cash in on space tourism.

Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic’s failed attempt in 2014 killed the co-pilot and left the pilot seriously injured.

Elon Musk's "Space X" mission made history delivering cargo to the International Space Station in 2012 but has also had three failed missions.

"It would seem to me that blue origin clearly has the lead in getting to space first for commercial space tourism," said Bill Harwood, CBS News Space Consultant.

While experts say a ticket on a Virgin Galactic flight could cost up to $200,000, Blue Origin has not said how much tickets to space may cost.
