Officers were called out to a domestic disturbance at SW 49 and Independence that ended with one man dead.
As of Sunday night, police have not not yet identified the male victim and neighbors are still uneasy.
“I was in bed and I heard a woman screaming,” said Oklahoma City resident Jessica Lancaster.
Lancaster had a hard time sleeping Sunday morning.
It didn't take long for her concern to grow.
“At first we thought it was somebody maybe celebrating but then when we heard it again, they sounded scared,” she said.
The screaming continued as police sped to the house on the corner of SW 49 in response to a domestic dispute call.
Officers said the situation escalated soon after they arrived but before they were able to make contact with anyone inside the home.
“When officers arrived they did hear several gunshots being fired from inside the house,” Oklahoma City police officer Jeff Dutton said.
Police said Sunday the shooting killed one man.
Neighbors who are too worried to show their face said the street is normally peaceful.
Police spent most of the early morning hours investigating.
Many neighbors said with no arrests announced yet, they are uncomfortable and are left with more questions than answers.
Police say they did interview several people inside the house at the time of the shooting
Detectives are calling this an active investigation.
