Both buses stolen from the Twin Hills School District were found burned Wednesday afternoon.

Sources confirmed to News On 6 that both buses were found within miles from where they were stolen.

Twin Hills is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever stole the two buses Tuesday morning.

Three people were caught on surveillance video walking on the school playground, according to Superintendent Gary McElroy.

They left beer cans out on the playground then drove off in the buses, first an older bus that is a spare and then a newer bus that is in frequent use, McElroy told the Okmulgee Times. The thieves rammed a gate with the second bus, he said.

McElroy said the suspects were driving a black Jeep Cherokee.

Great Plains Resources of Broken Arrow is donating a used passenger bus to the district.

"This is a great service to us and will keep us from having to purchase a bus that we weren't prepared for, especially with the current school funding issues," said Principal Russ Criner.

"We are extremely grateful, to them and others who have expressed support to Twin Hills."

Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft. If you have information that can help, call them at 918-756-4311.
