A former Muskogee County jailer was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison for second degree rape of a female inmate.

Harold Shinn, 23, pleaded guilty to second degree rape, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Shinn was arrested earlier this year after he admitted to having a sexual relationship with the inmate.

In January 20, 2016, the Muskogee County District Attorney requested that OSBI investigate an allegation of official misconduct involving Shinn and several inmates, OSBI officers said.

OSBI special agents conducted the investigation and they, along with Muskogee County deputies, arrested Shinn.

When released from prison, he will face five years of probation.
