Muskogee Judge Arrested For Domestic Abuse

Muskogee Judge Bart Fite was arrested Friday for domestic abuse.

The Muskogee Police Department released the following statement regarding the incident:

"Officers were called to the station on a complaint of domestic abuse.

After taking a statement from the victim and observing signs of physical abuse that were consistent with the statement, officers arrested Bart Fite for assault and battery - domestic abuse.

The case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office as is common practice with these types of cases.

Judge Fite has taken a voluntary leave of absence from the bench until the matter is resolved.

State law requires law enforcement to make an arrest when there are visible signs of abuse."
