A 97-year old Tulsa woman took a ride she's waited nearly a lifetime for.

Jerrie Murphy worked on planes as an electrician in California during World War II.

She helped build B-17s.

She earned less than $70 a week and was the only woman working on her crew.

Saturday, she flew in a B-17 for the first time with her grandson, soaring over the city she now calls home.

“I could cry,” said Murphy. “I love those. These are wonderful ships. The men I worked with teased me to death. It was fun."
