Still looking for that special Christmas gift? Look no further than the Oklahoma County Assessor office. They're offering up a piece of Oklahoma County History.

The best part about it, it's free!

Every year the Oklahoma County Assessor's office takes aerial pictures of all the property in the county.

“We can find out if there’s been a change from year to year to year,” said Chief Deputy Larry Stein.

Now it's all done digitally, but the assessor's office still has some of the old 1989 pictures laying around.

“Rather than throw them in the trash we thought it would be kind of fun to give them to everybody,” said Stein.

So, they're allowing anyone from the public to come down to their office and see if there is picture of a parcel of land they find significant.

“You’re not going to get this at any store and you’re not going to get that at a price that’s free. And we’d really like to put them in the hands of people that would like them and use them a do something special with them.”

Last week, the assessor's office started giving away the pictures. They started with about 800 photos and about half are left.

Stein said one person said they were going to use them for wallpaper, another was a commercial realtor that wanted to put them on their wall.

Stein encourages anyone who gets pictures to share with them on their Facebook page, and to show how you used the pictures.
