The Oklahoma City Police Department is hoping to identify a suspect who was caught on camera robbing a convenience store in the Paseo District this week.
According to the report, a male suspect entered Paseo Mart at 3020 N. Walker around 10:15 p.m. Sunday, July 22.
“He runs up to the counter,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Has the gun out, displayed pointing at the clerk at all times.”
The owner of the convenience store was behind the counter the night of the frightening robbery.
As the owner handed over the money, the suspect never made eye contact with him. The owner believes the man has been in the store before as a customer.
The suspect is described as a white male, standing at 5’5”, wearing a dark-colored shirt and blue jeans. He also had a torn shirt covering his face.
Despite the partial disguise, police said the store's surveillance footage is clear enough it could give away the suspect's identity.
“You do get a look at the way he moves,” said Knight. “The way he moves, the clothes he’s wearing, his hair. It’s a good enough look that somebody who knows him, may recognize him.”
The gunman was in and out of the store in under 30 seconds. A clue it may not be his first robbery.
“It’s not uncommon for somebody who does this type of thing to repeat that, make it a pattern of behavior,” said Knight. “Detectives are looking to see if he’s connected to any robberies in the area.”
