A Yukon man was arrested after he believed he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex, according to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff's office says, 24-year-old Dalton Sontag drove to a Yukon Kohl’s Department Store on Tuesday, August 7, to meet with what he thought was the teen, and instead was met by Canadian County Deputies.
The investigation began back in early June 2018, when Sontag began talking to the undercover deputy posing as the 14-year-old girl on Facebook. Sontag asked about “her” sexual history and even offered to bring condoms to keep the girl from getting pregnant.
The sheriff’s office says Sontag was “persistent in pressuring the decoy to meet so he could have sex with her.”
When Sontag arrived at the meet location, he was taken into custody without incident and confessed his plans with the 14-year-old girl to deputies.
“I believe Sontag took his time grooming our undercover deputy for sex to make sure she was the real deal, and not an undercover sting operation. Clearly, he got it wrong,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.
Sontag was booked into the Canadian County Jail for Soliciting Sex with a Minor by Use of Technology. His bond was set at $5,000.
He has since bonded out of jail.
