The University of Oklahoma will officially swear in its 14th president Thursday evening.

President Jim Gallogly has been on the job since July 1. But even before that, he was critical of the university's debt totaling $1 billion.

“We’re looking at opportunities to save money immediately,” said Gallogly, before his inauguration ceremony.

At same time, Gallogly spoke about not raising tuition and paying faculty more money.

On Thursday, Gallogly said the university receives $120 million in federal dollars between the Norman Campus and Health Sciences campus. He said he’d like that number to double.

“The one thing we are lacking at this point in time is that real robust graduate program,” said Gallogly about his efforts to add the school research efforts.

Gallogly wouldn't provide many specifics on cutting costs, saying he'll provide those details to the Board of Regents in a couple weeks.
