Pilot Ejects From Military Aircraft Before Crash Near Mutual

Emergency crews responded after a military aircraft crashed near Mutual, Oklahoma. An instructor pilot ejected just in time and is okay, but investigators are still working to determine what caused the plane to crash.

According to authorities, the crash occurred near County Road 223 and Highway 51, about 30 miles southeast of Woodward.

The instructor pilot said he and another pilot were returning from a training exercise, when the engine in his T-38 went out. He decided to eject when he couldn't restart the engine.

Authorities said a passerby called 911 and went to help after seeing the pilot parachute down.

The pilot is a little sore but told emergency personnel he was okay.
