Voters supported a general obligation bond in the August 28 election, which will fund a new multi-million dollar animal shelter. It will feature heated floors, bigger kennels, and an HVAC system to help evaporate moisture and cut down on disease.
The new shelter will double the capacity for adoptable animals and provide places for people to get to know their potential pets.
Midwest City officials are working through the prioritization process for all the bond projects and hope to cut ribbon on the shelter within two years.
