El Reno police have given the "all-clear" after a verbal threat was made against El Reno schools.
Two schools in El Reno were in lockdown after receiving a verbal threat, the school district said.
Etta Dale Junior High School and El Reno High School were under lockdown while El Reno police investigated the verbal threat.
On Friday, occupants of a vehicle yelled at several junior high and band students near Etta Dale Junior High School and Marsh Memorial Building and said they were going to "bring a gun and kill them all."
Parents and staff were immediately notified and school staff reported it to El Reno police, El Reno Schools Superintendent Craig McVay said.
The car and the occupants were found and the matter was turned over to the El Reno Police Department.
"As superintendent I'm grateful and thankful that we were prepared to handle this threat and to make sure the safety and well being of our students and staff was our top priority. We are also thankful that local media acted professionally and quickly to join with us to let the public know as much as possible," McVay said in a statement. "We will continue to seek ways to make sure our students are safe and our parents have as much information as possible in situations like the one that we were faced with today."
