The discovery of an emaciated horse in Canadian County has neighbors angry, and investigators looking into why.
Canadian County Sheriff’s Spokesman Major John Bridges says a Deputy was called to a five-acre pasture in East El Reno on Sunday. He says the owner of the three horses was ordered to provide water, and three bales of hay.
Jerry Ervin lives next door to the property. “Oh I see it every day when I leave home,” he said. “And it just takes people to stand up and get something done. You know I hate that it has to go this way, but if you can’t take care of em, don’t have em.”
Major Bridges said if the investigation shows “intentional neglect,” all three of the horses will be seized by the County.
“We have several people who are in the business of animal rescue who would be more than happy to come out and take care of the animals,” Bridges said.
