Mustang Public Schools is adding a new position to improve safety in the district.
Interim Superintendent Charles Bradley said the person selected for the director of security will be announced at a board meeting in September.
According to Bradley, the director will determine if more school resource officers are needed. Currently, there are five for 15 sites, serviced by the Mustang Police Department and Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
The director will also evaluate facilities for upgrades, assess possible threats and make recommendations.
“We want that person – that professional in that field – to make those decisions and also be able to go through the entire implementation plans from planning to the actual deployment of that,” said Bradley.
The new hire will likely hit the ground running by the end of September, Bradley said.
