Several groups will come together to help rescue dogs get a home this Saturday, September 22. It's the 13th Annual Woofstock Pet Adoption Event and Pet Festival, and it will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverwalk in Jenks.
Adoptable pets from more than 40 rescue groups and shelters will be on hand hoping to catch the eye of a rescuer. All newly adopted pets will receive a free microchip, ID tag and goodie back courtesy of the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals.
It's a fun day even if you're not looking to adopt. There are pet contests like the grooviest pet costume at 11 a.m., best pet trick at noon and best owner and pet lookalike at 1 p.m.
There will be a kid zone with face painting, a balloon man and other activities.
You can get $20 micro-chipping for your pet and $5 pet ID tags from OAA. There will also be animal vendors including animal communication sessions with Pam Case.
Jan Lavender with the Oklahoma Animal Alliance appeared on News On 6 at Noon to discuss the event - and introduce us to a sweet black Lab named "Momma" who hopes to find a new home.
