An investigation is underway after a missing Turley man’s body was found Monday near Apache and Yale.
Christopher Lewis was reported missing on October 14th. Since that time, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office has been looking for him.
On Monday, police say some people walking in some woods near the intersection spotted a body. They say they are working together with the sheriff’s office to solve the killing.
People who live in the area say an incident like this is concerning.
Rhonda Reale lives just down the road from where Lewis’s body was found.
“It’s always been fairly quiet, you know,” said Reale. “We’ll hear the gun shots, but we are kind of secluded. We don’t really think much about it too often.”
“When it’s dark, we don’t have no street lights,” said neighbor Vincent Ortegon. “That place back there is very dark, which surprises me because there are a few families that live back there.”
On Monday, October 15th, Lewis’ car was found burned near 56th Street North and Sheridan. Police say the death is being investigated as a homicide.
“Right now, our investigators are getting with Tulsa County’s investigators,” said Tulsa Police Sergeant Brandon Watkins. “They’ve been working on it for about a week, so they have a significant head start on it.”
People who live in the area say they were surprised to hear about a body being found.
“My grandkids love to play down there at that creek and, well, that won’t be happening any time soon. So, that is very concerning,” stated Reale.
The state Medical Examiner’s Officer will determine the cause of death.
