Edmond PD: 1 Male Dead After Crash In Edmond

One man has died Wednesday following a crash in Edmond, officials told News 9.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. on Edmond Road west of Fretz. A man on a moped scooter was hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the scooter, 61-year-old James Thompson, was taken to OU Medical Center where he died. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the pickup involved in the crash was arrested.

Juan Cruces-Landeros, 30, was arrested at the scene on complaints of driving without a valid driver's license and causing an accident without valid driver's license resulting in death.

According to Edmond PD, Edmond Road between Fretz and Walnut was closed due to the accident.
