A woman's body found on the side of the road in Canadian County leaves officials searching for answers.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Union City police got the call just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. They found a deceased woman on the side of the road here and have ruled it a homicide.
“Right now, we're still processing the scene, so we don't have an ID on the victim,” said Brook Arbeitman with the OSBI. “We don't have a cause of death yet that will be determined by the medical examiner.”
The body was found near Southwest 44th Street and Gregory in Union City.
There was also a suitcase on the side of the road which is being investigated as well. However, the OSBI said they can't release information on objects within the crime scene.
“We can't because right now we're using our Faro 3D camera to scan the crime scene,” said Arbeitman. “So, once that's complete and we have thorough pictures of the crime scene than we'll go in.”
It's a rural area with not many homes. Investigators are now looking for witnesses.
“Usually in smaller rural communities we do get requested more often than in larger urban areas because they don't have the resources or the manpower and we do,” said Arbeitman.
The OSBI is not calling this a shooting at this time and are unsure of any motives.
