OSDH: 879 Total Coronavirus Cases Reported In Oklahoma; 34 Total Virus-Related Deaths

A total of 879 coronavirus cases have been reported in the state and the number of virus-related deaths went up to 34, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Thursday.

A total of 879 coronavirus cases have been reported in the state and the number of virus-related deaths went up to 34, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Thursday. 

Four more deaths were reported in Oklahoma since Wednesday.

Two deaths were from Tulsa County; a man aged 36 to 49 and a man aged 65 or older. One death was a man aged 65 or older from Stephens County. One death was a man aged 65 or older from Muskogee County.

As of Thursday, 257 Oklahomans have been hospitalized due to the virus. 

The age range for patients is 0 to 96 with the median age being 57. Nine children ages 0 to 4 tested positive; 12 children ages 5 to 17 tested positive; 139 patients are ages 18 to 35; 178 patients are ages 36 to 49; 232 patients are ages 50 to 64; and 309 patients are 65 or older. 

Most of the deaths are people ages 65 or older with 24 deaths. Eight deaths are of patients 50 to 64 and two deaths are of people ages 36 to 49.

The breakdown of patients are 451 patients are female and 428 patients are male. As of Thursday, 22 male patients and 12 female patients have died. 

Gov. Kevin Stitt issued an executive order Thursday declaring a health emergency in all 77 Oklahoma counties. On Wednesday, he amended an earlier emergency declaration to close all non-essential businesses in all 77 counties.

According to data released Thursday, 52 counties have reported COVID-19 cases. 

Oklahoma County still has the most confirmed cases with 216 cases. Tulsa County has the second most confirmed cases with 151. Cleveland County has the third most cases with 121.

As of Thursday, 1,265 tests returned negative. The negative results are only from the state public health laboratory and do not include the private laboratory negative results, the health department said.

The state health department did not disclose how many tests were pending results as of Tuesday, March 24.

Earlier, Stitt announced people coming from six states will have to quarantine themselves for two weeks. These states are Louisiana, Washington, California, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. 

For travelers who are returning from a Level 3 Travel Health Notice region, the state health department asks they stay at home, monitor their health and practice social distancing within the home. 

The state health department advises anyone with COVID-19 symptoms such as shortness of breath, fever or coughing to stay home and limit person-to-person engagement.
