Community Remembers 11-Year-Old Who Lost Her Fight Against Cancer

The community is remembering 11-year-old Mackenzie Asher who ended her battle with cancer on Thursday night.

News 9’s Tiffany Liou met Mackenzie in September. She beat cancer once, but the acute myeloid leukemia returned.

Mackenzie’s father said she was released from the hospital on Monday and seemed healthy enough to return home, but over the next few days, she wasn’t feeling well. Mackenzie passed away with her family around her.

She had unbelievable heart and so much courage. Will be missed dearly. We will finish out the season for Mackenzie! My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. There couldn't be a sweeter angel to be watching over us from above! https://t.co/2ag6yRdbjn

Baker Mayfield sent a tweet about the loss of Mackenzie. He wrote, “She had an unbelievable heart and so much courage. Will be missed dearly. We will Finish out the season for Mackenzie! My thoughts and Prayers are with her and her family. There couldn’t be a sweeter angel to be watching over us from above!”
