This week, you can get some of your holiday shopping done and help Oklahoma parents who made the generous decision to adopt. The Karis Adoption Fund is getting ready for their event called The Gift Goes On.
At least 40 different vendors will be there along with food trucks with a portion of the profits going to the adoption fund.
"Adoptions can cost anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000 depending on what agency you're using and so we never wanted people to go into debt just to adopt a child and bring them home,” said Carisa Wilsie, chairwoman of The Gift Goes On.
Wilsie said that there’s an estimated 150 million orphans worldwide. Depending on the family’s need, Karis gives grants, matching grants or no-interest loans for a domestic or international adoption.
The event is going on from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, at "The Cube on Council Road" Baptist Church, 7903 NW 30 Street in Bethany.
A $5 donation is suggested at the door.
This year the event will feature a silent auction that includes items like vacation homes in Memphis, Destin and Taos and a raffle that includes items like floor seats at Oklahoma City Thunder games complete with parking passes and food vouchers. If you can’t make the shopping event, you can participate in the silent auction online here: http://www.thegiftgoeson.com/silent-auction.html
