Those high winds Tuesday night, uprooted a century-old elm tree in Logan County that fell onto a school building in Coyle.
Superintendent of Schools Josh Sumrall said it happened just after 9 p.m., at the Agricultural Sciences facility, four blocks North of Coyle’s main school campus. He says there were no animals inside the building though, because 4-H and FFA show season ended last month.
“I’m gonna guess removing the tree will be around five-thousand dollars,” said Superintendent Sumrall. “I and the building, I have no idea what it will cost.”
Sumrall said repairs will take at least a few months.
Stillwater resident Reba Ellis stopped by the fallen tree late Wednesday afternoon. The 77-year-old Ellis said she used to live in Coyle a long time ago.
“The way the wind was blowing last night, I watched TV all night long,” Ellis said.
