A Midwest City woman is scared for her safety after finding the house she is remodeling shot up.
Bullet holes are all over the living room and she is just thankful no one was inside at the time.
The homeowner found as many as five bullet holes right in the middle of the living room at the home she is remodeling.
The homeowner does not want to be identified because she does not know who shot up the vacant house.
She has been working on the home at night.
She left the home 1 a.m. Tuesday and when she returned Tuesday evening to do more work, she discovered the bullet holes.
“I could only imagine if someone was in this house, someone would have gotten shot,” she told News 9.
She believes local teens who constantly walk through the yard fired the shots.
“These hoodlums, I mean that's what I perceive them as, as hoodlums,” the homeowner said. “The community should take back their community, not allow these kids to run the community."
She said after the shots fired, she cannot live in the home in the future and renting it out may be the only option.
“Seriously, I am truly afraid to even move back,” she said. “Being a homeowner, you should not be fearful in your own home."
Midwest City police documented the damage and are investigating, but said it is hard to go after anyone when there were not any witnesses.
Midwest City police have an active street crimes unit that is constantly patrolling neighborhoods, trying to deter these crimes.
