Norman police arrested the driver of an SUV involved in a collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist early Sunday morning.

Norman police arrested the driver of an SUV involved in a collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist early Sunday morning.

According to police, at 12:33 a.m., Norman Emergency Communications Center received a call of an injury accident in the area of west State Highway 9 and the northbound Interstate 35 on-ramp.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered an accident involving a small sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was found in a grassing area next to the roadway with significant injuries.

According to police, the motorcycle rider, later identified as 29-year-old Chad Brown of Norman, was transported to Norman Regional Hospital with severe injuries. He later died.

The driver of the SUV, 24-year-old Kaitlyn Romo of Weslaco, Texas, was also transported to Norman Regional Hospital for treatment following the crash. She has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and DUI, according to Norman police.
