A popular metro restaurant went up in flames Saturday night, after a fire started in the attic.

Around 10:30 p.m., employees noticed smoke coming from the Johnny Carino's near Memorial and May.

Management worked quickly to evacuate customers and employees. Firefighters told News 9 when they got there flames were coming from the building.

“I believe at this time, it's probably gonna be an electrical short. It got a real good head start on us and burnt up most of the attic on the inside,” said OKC Fire Battalion Chief Randy Cornelius.

Fire officials say the fire probably caused $100,000 in damage.
