Multi-Car Crash Impacts I-44 Traffic Near Western Avenue

 Authorities have shut down the I-44 eastbound at Western Avenue because of a reported injury crash involving multiple vehicles.

Fire department officials said six vehicles were involved. EMSA transported one person, officials said.

Police said the weather-related crash injured at least one person. Authorities said a red car had spun out and other cars tried to dodge the original accident, causing a chain reaction.

Interstate 44 eastbound at Western Avenue was shut down so the crash could be cleaned up. Eastbound traffic was being diverted to the Western exit.
