Police are looking for a suspect who robbed a Pauls Valley convenience store at gunpoint late Saturday night.
According to police, at about 11:53 p.m. officers responded to the report of a robbery at Valley Express, located at 302 E. Grant. A clerk told police on the phone that he was locked inside of a room.
When officers arrived, they said they heard someone crying from behind the cash register. Police were able to locate the clerk, whose wrists were tied.
The clerk told police that he had closed the store at 11 p.m. as usual. When he turned off the lights, a man wearing a mask came into the store with a gun and said to him, “Give me the money or I'll shoot you.”
According to police, the clerk gave the suspect envelopes containing money. The suspect then forced the clerk into a back room where he tied the clerk's hands. Police said the suspect then pushed the clerk to the ground and placed boxes on top of his body.
The clerk said he was able to get out from underneath the boxes and call 911. However, he said the suspect took his keys from his pocket. Police said the victim's vehicle was not in the parking lot when officers arrived.
The missing car was later found at the 66 mile marker along I-35. Police continue to search for the suspect at this time. He was wearing cargo pants, long sleeve shirt, a beanie, a face mask and gloves. He stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall. No other suspect information has been released.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect on Monday. If you have any information, call Pauls Valley police.
