Jason Martyn, a senior pitcher from Laverne, Calif., earned Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a complete-game shutout in Northwestern Oklahoma State's 2-0 win over Southern Nazarene last Friday.
Martyn worked seven innings, allowing only three hits. He walked one and struck out six. The righthander has 40 strikeouts in just 30.1 innings of work this season.
"Jason came through for us with a dominant performance in a game where runs were hard to come by on both sides," said Northwestern head coach Ryan Bay. "If he doesn't pitch that well, we probably don't come out of there with the win."
Martyn becomes the first spring athlete to win the conference's weekly award for Northwestern and the seventh overall this school year.
