Oklahoma State's softball team defeated North Texas 8-0 following a 3-1 extra-inning loss to Iowa Friday at the Lovelace Invitational, hosted by the North Texas Mean Green. The Cowgirls are now 3-3 on the season.
Game one against Iowa was a defensive affair, going scoreless all the way until the top of the eighth inning when Iowa shortstop Megan Blank hit a two-run home run to give the Hawkeyes the lead. OSU scored one run on an RBI single by junior Ari Morrison, but fell 3-1.
In the second contest against North Texas, Samantha Chrisman was the star for the Cowgirls. The Tulsa, Okla., native collected four RBIs in her first two at-bats to give OSU an early 4-0 lead, and the Cowgirls never looked back.
Oklahoma State continues play in the Lovelace Invitational Saturday morning, first a game vs. Nebraska-Omaha at 9 a.m., followed by a game against Dayton at 11:30 a.m.
