Beware of 'Black Wednesday'

Thanksgiving Eve is 'Black Wednesday,' one of the biggest of nights the year in terms of teen drinking, especially with college students.

We all know holidays are the time when the drinks are flowing and families are having fun. Experts warn parents should lock the liquor cabinet.

One Oklahoma City woman tells News 9 earlier this year she nearly lost her life because after a party a drunk woman hit the road and her car.

Kenya Dallas won't ever be the same. On Mexican Independence Day, or Cinco de Mayo, a drunk driver hit her head on. That day Kenya lost her independence.

"I was going up the hill and the drunk driver had her lights off and by the time we met I saw her lights come on and boom," she said. The air bags flew out and the car's engine ended up on Dallas's foot.

The other driver wasn't as lucky.

"She was in ICU for two weeks and then she died. Usually it is the other way around. The drunk driver is OK and the innocent bystander is the one who dies," Dallas said

Now she walks with crutches and the emotional healing is as difficult as the physical.

"I am angry my feet are shattered and I was in a wheelchair for four months," Dallas said.

Now she is struggling to pay bills from her missed time at work.

Black Wednesday may be fun for some but for her is a reminder of a dark time.

If you have too much to drink this weekend there is help to get you home. Triple-A is offering its "Tipsy Tow" service. A tow truck will give you and your vehicle a ride home within a 15 mile radius.
