DALLAS -- After reports surfaced Tuesday that West Virginia was on the cusp of joining the Big 12, reports surfaced early Wednesday stating that the move has been delayed, possibly by a push from Louisville to join the conference instead of the Mountaineers.
Metro News out of Morgantown, West Virginia is reporting that the Mountaineers' move to the Big 12 has hit a "bump in the road" after WVU was notified that the conference needed "more information" from the Mountaineers. Additionally, the report cites the source saying that there would be a vote by the conference on the move, possibly on Monday.
According to a report from the Dominion Post, the snag holding up the move is a push by the Louisville Cardinals to snag the presumably open spot in the Big 12.
West Virginia has refuted reports that the school would be holding a press conference Wednesday, perhaps to announce the school's conference move.
