CLEVELAND COUNTY, Oklahoma -- Saturday is Oklahoma Meningitis Awareness Day, Cleveland County health departments are holding back-to-school immunization clinics and offering Meningitis vaccines for students, toddlers and infants who have no insurance or are under-insured.

Meningitis is a disease that can kill someone with hardly any symptoms in less than 24 hours.

Abby Wold contracted it eight years ago when vaccines were not recommended. She lost her legs and said it could have been prevented with a vaccine.

"Regardless of whatever rumors and everything else float around, vaccines are proven to save lives, and to save limbs and organ function and money for families." Wold says.

The clinics will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Cleveland County health departments in Moore and Norman.
