EDMOND, Okla. -- It's been a difficult year for students at Edmond's Santa Fe High School, after two student's deaths.

Earlier in the year, star volleyball player Heather Harkness died following an appendectomy. Now, another student was stabbed to death.

Friends and family gathered Thursday to say goodbye to 18-year old Manuel Serrato. He was killed over the weekend during a fight with his cousin.

Friends said Serrato loved soccer and wanted to become a petroleum engineer.

"He had a life ahead of him, and dreams and family that loved him. It is difficult," close friend Daniel Hernandez said.

Harkness and Serrato were known by fellow students and faculty for their academic excellence.

Students said they're supporting each other, and are trying to cope with this second tragedy.
