Over a hundred pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in drug money was found during a traffic stop in Oklahoma City on Monday.
An Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Deputy made the bust after observing a car driving erratically on Interstate 40 near the Meridian Ave. exit. According to the deputy, the vehicle was weaving in and out of different lanes and straddling lane lines.
Once pulled over, the deputy made contact with the driver, 36-year-old Laietis Defreitas, and passenger, 31-year-old Calvin Isom Jr. According to the report, both people gave conflicting stories about their trip. The deputy also said he could smell marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.
During the stop, the deputy deployed his K9 partner “Thor”, who positively hit on the presence of drugs in the car. A search of the vehicle yielded 125 pounds of marijuana and nearly $18,000 in cash.
Both Defreitas and Isom were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail for the charges of Trafficking Illegal Drugs and Possession of Drug Proceeds. Their bonds were ste at $40,000.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy and Thor have had several large drug busts over the past year.
