Two vacant house fires that began around the same time Friday morning have investigators looking for possible arsonists.

The first fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of N.E. 15th Street near Bryant Avenue.

The house had heavy damage from the early-morning blaze.

Exactly 37 minutes later, the second call came in for a fire at a vacant house in the 2000 block of N.E. Grand Boulevard along Interstate 35.

Firefighters tell News 9 they found the front door of that house open and an empty gas can sitting nearby in the front yard.

Arson investigators say they're trying to figure out who started the fires and why.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
