News 9 and Leisure Time are on the move again for this month's Road Trip Oklahoma trip, this time headed west to Shawnee for its annual Boo On Bell fall family fun festival.
Presented by Safe Events For Families, Boo on Bell is held in the downtown area and features plenty of safe, fun events for the entire family. Trick-or-treating, carnival games, live music, a costume contest ,a parade and car show as well as a hot dog eating contest are just a few of the many exciting happenings taking place in Shawnee on October 26-27.
News 9 and Leisure Time RV will be in Shawnee on Friday to kick-off the Boo On Bell events. Stop by and meet anchors Christina Eckert and Lauren Nelson that morning at Sips Downtown Kafe or come by Billy Boys BBQ on your lunch break to meet Kelly Ogle and Amanda Taylor.
Since it began in 1999, Boo on Bell has grown from a small trick-or-treating event to the large, two day event as it is today. All events will take place in the historic downtown retail district in Shawnee near Main Street and Bell Avenue.
Friday night gets frightening at dark with The Haunted Theatre at the Ritz Theatre, 13 Spirits Ghost Tours and Ghost Hunting at the Anderson Building where you can join Extra Spirit Phenomenon (ESP) and experience how an actual ghost investigation is conducted. Tickets are $4.00 each for children and $6.00 each for adults.
Saturday, events begin at 10:00am with the Frankenmutt Pet Costume Contest while the Carnival is in full swing from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
You can't have Halloween without trick-or-treating and the Downtown Shawnee Merchants have come together to put on the "Pumpkinville Main Street Trick or Treat" from 3:30 to 5:00pm on Saturday. This event is free and open to children ages 12 and under.
After the trick-or-treating is complete, join Mayor Pumpkinhead for the Magical Mystical Boo-rade down Main Street.
Other events throughout the day on Saturday include the Boo-Rod auto show, hay rides, costume contests, street performers, live entertainment at Macabre Theatre, a jack-o-lantern contest, street dance and a variety of food and gift vendors.
