Firefighters have extinguished a wildfire near Yale in Payne County Monday afternoon.

Firefighters have extinguished a wildfire near Yale in Payne County Monday afternoon.

The large fire broke out about five miles northeast of Yale, according to the Yale Fire Department. A helicopter is dumping water in area to help firefighters.

News 9 received reports that another large wildfire broke out between Yale and Cushing. Fire officials say it was approaching houses in the area.

Firefighters with the Yale, Jennings, and Maramec fire departments have responded to the fires.

According to the Payne County Sheriff's Office, Norfolk Road and Euchee Valley Road were shut down from Grandstaff to Fairlawn.  Just before 7 p.m., all roads are back open.
