ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) – An Oklahoma man, who teaches in Arkansas is accused of strangling and bludgeoning his wife while they visited relatives in Louisiana.

Louisiana officials say David Tate was booked Tuesday with second-degree murder of Josette Tate.

The Tates are originally from the Alexandria area, but were living in Westville, Oklahoma. Investigators say David Tate was teaching for the Prairie Grove School District in western Arkansas, about 12 miles west of Fayetteville, and 16 miles east of Westville.

An autopsy report says Josette Tate was strangled by hand and hit in the head with something blunt. Investigators declined to indicate a motive for the homicide.

Josette Tate died in a hospital after someone in the house where the couple was staying called an ambulance.
