Latino Film Festival Happening This Weekend In Oklahoma City

The sixth annual Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival kicks off this weekend.

The festival will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Yale Theater, 277 SW 25th Street.

Hundreds are expected to attend tonight's opening festival night where there will be a Youth Film Workshop and then at 7 p.m., several films will be featured from established filmmakers from the U.S., Spain, Mexico and Latin America.

The night will include a taco truck, drinks, the Latin Mojo band and popcorn. Presale tickets are $25 and tickets at the door are $30.

Film festival director Rogelio Almedia said the two-day festival is located in the heart of Oklahoma City's Hispanic district.

"We have filmmakers that are coming in to present their films. So people in the audience are to be able to do a live Q&A with the filmmakers themselves. They're flying from L.A., Texas, Arkansas,” Almeida said.

The festival will pick back up from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Hill Library at 327 SW 27th Street.

The second day is free and will feature international films and documentaries.
