Two suspects are on the loose after robbing, kidnapping and tying a metro insurance agent to a tree in rural Canadian County, according to authorities.

“Above All Insurance” Agent Chris Baxter told Oklahoma City police he was leaving his home Thursday night to have dinner with one of the suspects. They were supposed to discuss becoming a godfather.

As the two were leaving Baxter’s home, they were approached by an armed man.

“They dragged the victim back into his own home,” said Sgt. Megan Morgan of Oklahoma City police. “That’s where they bound him, duct taped him, and put him in a bathroom where they held him at gunpoint.”

Both suspects began rifling through Baxter’s home. They asked for passcodes to a phone while searching for a wallet and keys.

“One of the suspects actually left the residents for a short period of time, went to the location where the victim had left his wallet, picked it up and brought it back,” said Morgan.

Baxter told police he was taken in his own truck to Northwest 10th Street and Cimarron Road where he was tied to a tree stump.

A half hour later, Baxter freed himself and neighbors called 911.

As police worked to track the suspects down, word spread in the westside neighborhood.

“When all this settles down, I’m going to get to know him and see if I can help him,” said neighbor Mike Ratcliff. “I’m active at our church and everything so we’ll see if we can help the guy out.”

Now both suspects have yet to be arrested.

They fled in the scene in Baxter’s truck, a white 2019 Toyota Tundra with the tag number ITQ333.

If you have any information call Oklahoma City police or 911.
