On President Joe Biden's first full day in office, his administration hit the ground running against the pandemic.
Biden did not bring in a scientist to lead the COVID-19 response but rather a businessman Jeff Zients. He is set to spearhead logistical hurdles of ending the pandemic.
Zients is not a new name in Washington. He served for the Obama administration.
Biden also canceled the United States' withdrawal from the World Health Organization. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, will take the lead there.
There is now a nationwide mask and physical distance mandate on all federal grounds and his administration encourages all states and cities to follow suit.
Some towns in Oklahoma will have to adapt to this new change.
"I thought the state of the nation today, no time to wait to get to work immediately," Biden said.
Biden is also challenging all Americans to wear a mask for the first 100 days of his presidency.
