A man experiencing homelessness died as a result of the extremely cold temperatures in Oklahoma City, city leaders said Wednesday.
The man was in his 50s and was found dead near Reno and May avenues.
Oklahoma City leaders think this is the first fatality in the city's homeless population.
The Willard shelter had 242 people stay overnight Tuesday night. Its capacity was expanded earlier this week from 225 to 245.
Shelters across the city said they will not turn people away and will help find housing during these extremely cold temperatures.
