For a group of OU business students, it was about creating a product and selling it all while social distancing and turning their efforts to a digital approach.
“With this time of uncertainty and the pandemic, we wanted to be just that, we wanted to be more than OK,” said Jackie Kunzweiler, the CEO of More Than OK.
Quickly it became the name of this student-run business; a way for these students to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel.
“Our product is a LED desk sign that we created that says Boomer Sooner. Its 16 color options, and you can change the colors with a remote,” said Margo Gianos, the director of marketing for More Than OK.
On top of other schoolwork, these students are creating, selling, and marketing a product in just a semester.
“I get up, get to class, and after that, I am basically thinking of selling events and go and volunteer,” said Kunzweiler.
Even during a pandemic, this next generation of businessmen and businesswomen are hoping to be the change the Norman community needs as they donate their time and efforts directly to Loveworks Leadership, an organization working with middle school students inspiring them to dream.
“We are in the process of launching a brand-new initiative at Loveworks that are called business bootup for kids,” said Michael Hirsch, the executive director of Loverworks Leadership. “We are going to create a five-week experience where they get to create their product and sell their product at the farmers market.”
With this large initiative, Loveworks Leadership will get the help of More Than OK to get this program up and running.
“Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Loveworks Leadership by the end of the semester,” said Gianos.
You can get one of your own LED desk sign for $45 that sale ends Sunday, May 2. Click here to buy one.
