An Oklahoma City police officer was terminated this month, according to a letter from the department’s Chief of Police Wade Gourley.
The department announced officer Devin Frazier was fired following an internal investigation of alleged misconduct.
The officer was terminated on May 14 after serving two years on the force. Gourley outlined 10 allegations in the termination letter that led to Frazier’s firing.
The allegations of misconduct date back to September 2020 when Frazier responded to a domestic situation at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex. The report stated a woman bit off part of a man's ear during a scuffle over a cellphone.
Gourley noted in Frazier's termination letter that he took pictures of evidence with his personal phone without a supervisor's prior approval and he did not properly collect evidence from the scene. The former officer was also accused of inaccurately documenting information in the report.
Further allegations included excessive speeding, exchanging inappropriate texts with someone involved in the investigation and that Frazier gave out information from the department's Mobile Data Computer.
Frazier was notified in January the alleged misconduct was under investigation and a hearing was held with department officials in early May.
Gourley wrapped up the letter stating Frazier's "actions demonstrate a complete lack of integrity, constitute a willful and wanton disregard for the Oklahoma City Police Department's core values, and they will destroy community trust in the police department."
Frazier was ordered to turn over all his city-issued equipment.
The department only released Gourley's letter and the initial report but declined to do an on-camera interview.
