A man is in custody after a shooting led to a four-hour standoff with officers in Midwest City, police said.

The shooting was reported about 10 p.m. on Sunday night near Northeast 10th Street and North Airport Depot Boulevard.

The suspect, who officers identified as 69-year-old Michael Swanson, is accused of shooting a teen victim and refusing to let the victim leave the home where the shooting took place.

Police said the initial call came from a relative who arrived at the home and found the victim with a gunshot wound.

When officers arrived on scene, they said Swanson would not let the victim leave the house.

After some negotiation, police were able to get the victim out of the home and to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, but Swanson remained in the home for several hours.

After about four and a half hours, SWAT teams arrived and were able to get the suspect out of the home.

Police are still working to determine what caused the incident or if anyone else was inside the home when the shooting took place.
