Oklahoma State University's e-sports arena opens Monday to students, faculty, staff and the public.
The university unveiled the gaming space in April and gave students the opportunity to test it out then.
It's in the Student Union basement on the Stillwater campus with more than three dozen gaming PCs, a station for live streaming, along with professional audio and lighting
OSU said the state-of-the-art facility will help cement OSU as the Big 12 leader in e-sports, while also helping recruit students and keep them invested in the future.
Oklahoma State's largest student organization is Gamers of OSU, with more than 500 active members. They range from competitive gamers to those who play casually.
“It's a really big deal to have this first step, with engagement and getting students involved and aware that this is something you can make a career out of; whether you're an e-sports player, or you could be a strat comm, you could be a video producer, you could be a Twitch streamer," said Gamers of OSU member, Sam Williams
The e-sports arena will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It's $3 an hour for students, faculty and staff and $4 an hour for the general public.
